Biography:
Galactus, a cosmic entity in the Marvel universe, is driven by an insatiable hunger. Existing since before the known universe, he requires planetary energy to sustain his immense power. This often leads him to consume entire worlds, a process that extinguishes all life on those planets.

He is not inherently evil, but rather a force of nature acting out of necessity. His origin lies in the merging of a mortal being named Galan with the sentient essence of the previous universe during its collapse. This union created the being known as Galactus in the subsequent universe.

Galactus has not been featured extensively in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and therefore a complete, definitive origin story is not yet available for that medium. However, the character is mentioned in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Fantastic Four #48 (March 1966) marks Galactus' first appearance in Marvel Comics.
